At Diamant Linen Ltd, we’re committed to doing all we can to reduce our environmental impact and protect the lakes, mountains, and countryside that make County Kerry such a popular destination among residents and tourists. Since we started in 2022, thinking about our environmental impact has been at the heart of everything we do. We have invested heavily in ways to mitigate the effects of what we do, from sophisticated water filtration to our local factory in Farranfore, Co. Kerry.

By working with us on your linen management solutions, you can be assured that your business is playing its part by working with us. To learn more about our commitments and investments, feel free to read on or speak to our team today to enquire about partnering with us.

Reclaiming Water with Industry-Leading Filtration

As you can imagine, commercial laundry services use a huge amount of water to be able to do what it does to a high standard. It is an essential part of the process and an element which cannot be avoided.

At Diamant Linen Ltd, we have heavily invested in equipment and processes to mitigate the impact our water usage has on the County Kerry area. The main way we have done this is by introducing a cutting-edge water filtration system, which can reclaim up to 85% of all wastewater from our factory. Not only does this reduce waste, but it minimises our reliance on fresh water and reduces the impact on local water services.

This Filtration System Works in Three Stages

Stage 1:

Wastewater is moved from our underground tanks into a 6,000-litre clarifier. The heavier particles settle at the bottom of the clarifier while the cleaner water flows out for further treatment.

Stage 2:

Wave separators and ultrafiltration membranes are used to further filter the water and remove any lasting solids.

Stage 3:

Finally, the filtered water moves through a reverse osmosis plant, which removes minerals and particulates. This now clean water re-enters our supply for us to use.

As well as saving thousands of litres of water each week, it also drastically reduces chemical waste and our reliance on water from local companies.

Reducing Carbon Emissions Through Local Deliveries

Our base in Farranfore, County Kerry, was chosen not just because we are proud Kerrymen and Kerrywomen, but this location puts us extremely close to the clients we serve. This natural advantage means our delivery routes are shorter, more efficient, and far less polluting than deliveries which come from Dublin, Cork, or further afield.

To show the benefits of working with a local supplier, we carried out an experiment which compared the carbon emissions of three delivery options from Diamant Linen Ltd, versus two businesses in Cork and Dublin, to Killarney or Tralee.

The experiment found that:

  • Our yearly deliveries create just over 2 tonnes of CO2 emissions, compared to 26.1 tonnes for a Cork supplier, and 72.2 tonnes for a Dublin one
  • For the Cork supplier, this is the equivalent yearly emissions of 17 Irish homes, and an incredible 48 homes for the Dublin-based one, compared to just 1.36 homes for Diamant Linen Ltd

For businesses in popular tourist areas of County Kerry, it’s clear that working with Diamant Linen Ltd is just a more convenient option but it is by far the greener choice.

Helping Your Business Meet Its ESG Goals

Rightly, a lot more businesses are factoring in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals when planning investment and building infrastructure. Prioritising ESG means finding suppliers that also hold these goals in high regard.

In short, who you work with matters.

By partnering with Diamant Linen Ltd, not only are you working with a business that can get linens to your business quicker, but one which:

Recycles

Recycles up to 85% of the water we use through advanced filtration systems, reducing strains on local resources.

Reduces carbon output

Minimise road mileage and overall carbon output by operating in the local County Kerry area.

Invests in quality

Invests in quality linens that are of the highest quality, which can be used and washed again and again, reducing textile waste.

All of our commitments can benefit your own business’s needs to minimise your impact on the local environment without compromising on a quality linen management service.

Our Ongoing Commitment

While we are proud of what we have achieved in the last few years, we know that sustainability is not a destination but a process of constant improvement. As Diamant Linen Ltd grows, so too does our responsibility to continuously innovate and improve.

Sustainability at Diamant Linen Ltd isn’t just a policy; it is part of our culture and is included in ongoing staff training. By developing our team of laundry experts, we can strengthen our green commitment from the ground up, ensuring everyone plays their part. Our team is trained to handle linens, water, and energy with efficiency and the environment in mind.

As we bring on board more clients in the Co. Kerry and Munster area, we’ll continue to explore ways in which we can make further energy-saving initiatives, as well as find more opportunities to capture greater amounts of renewable energy from our factory here in Farranfore, Co. Kerry.

We will continue to work towards a linen management service which is local, clean, and circular to ensure our beautiful home of County Kerry remains so.
